About me

With statues on the terraces and peacocks strutting by;
But the Glory of the Garden lies in more than meets the eye… .
Rudyard Kipling

I am a professional, contemporary, textile artist based in Warwickshire, England, designing and producing original artworks that I exhibit and sell through galleries, commissions and open studio events.

I am also a passionate gardener, spending hours in my garden nurturing plants and learning how my knowledge of colour, shape, line and texture can help me create beautiful borders and beds.

My subject, both in the studio and in the garden, is the English country garden where swathes of foxgloves, lupins and hollyhocks jostle with sweet-scented roses and lavenders to form nature’s vibrant paintings and my wall-hangings, framed works, lamps and accessories.

In the garden I paint with plants; in the studio I paint with dyes, acrylics and stitch. Combining my drawings of flowers and foliage with old poems and my own scribbles helps me to create pattern, colour and texture in my work.  I have established a reputation for using a polyester non-woven fabric with free-motion machine stitch to embellish my original, hand-drawn images and text for screen printing and photo transfer onto fabric.

After twenty years in marketing, I cultivated my creativity and gained a 1st Class Honours Degree in Printed Textiles from Loughborough University and have been a freelance artist, teacher and mentor for the last ten years.
